A Family Business: The Amish Yard Family Part 1

Amish Yard started humbly as a small shop on the corner of Route 51 and Stewart Avenue in Whitehall. We’ve certainly grown a bit since then but we haven’t forgotten our roots. Based on the quality craftsmanship of the Amish living in Sugarcreek, Ohio, we continue to put the same dedication and heart into each and every aspect of the business to this day. Every person who works at Amish Yard, whether they’re hands on with the products or behind the scenes operations, have that same mentality.

This time on the blog, we wanted to focus a bit on what goes on behind the scenes and specifically the people who do the work!

Tammi has been with Amish Yard for five years and is a member of our amazing sales team. Her favorite part of working with Amish Yard is that it’s a family owned business that focuses on providing their customers the best quality products at the best prices. “At Amish Yard, the customer comes first and we work hard to ensure they are taken care of and receive the best price and quality for each product they are purchasing,” Tammi explains. By the time the sale is finalized, Tammi says she feels like a real relationship has been cultivated between her and the customer which she takes great pride in. As she should!

Each day at work is different for Tammi. One day she might be quoting prices on furniture, sheds, and structures and the next she’s out on the floor assembling furniture and sweeping the floor or in the office cleaning up someone else’s mess. It might seem like Tammi is the jack of all trades at Amish Yard but she says that it’s the norm for every Amish Yard employee. “No job is too large or small and each employee pitches in to accomplish everything that needs done.”

One of the most important aspects of the job at Amish Yard is to create and maintain a positive relationship with the suppliers and builders. Travelling to Ohio to get a firsthand look at how all of the furniture, structures, and small items are crafted has instilled a drive in Tammi to pass on that same handcrafted quality onto the customers.

In Tammi’s spare time she enjoys spending time with her family, watching her kids grow up, reading, and watching movies. She also loves spending time outdoors camping and swimming. Her favorite summer activity in Pittsburgh? “Kennywood, of course!”

When asked to pick her favorite Amish Yard product of the moment, she had a hard time choosing! She finally decided that her current favorite are the Folding Adirondack Chairs. They’re a great option for those without much storage space because they fold right up when you don’t need them and slide snugly away.

Tammi’s favorite part of her day at Amish Yard is when she finalizes a sale with a customer making the customer, the supplier, and Michael happy.

We’re so excited that we got the chance to showcase Tammi on the blog this month. She’s an amazing part of Amish Yard and we’re glad to have her! Look out for more employee showcases coming up soon. Our Amish Yard family is our heart and soul, so it’s important to us that you get to see that!
